Me a Blogger??

I ve made a few comments at blog sites and did the books review blogs at Harlequin, but I never thought I'd actualy do this for real. Regardless of the other things I might be tempted to say I really am pissed about the proposed immigration bills out there and the desire by people who should know better to criminalize the workers and the employers.
First, the problem exists not just because some countries send us their criminals, or that employers want cheap labor. The truth is that our immigration laws, policies, enforcement and procedures stink. We have selective immigration laws that make it impossible for some people to legally immigrate. Then we have lost files, and biased interviewers. It shouldn't take years and years for legal cards for people who properly applied. Green card marriages get approved faster than the real deal marriages. And people who have legal residence and citizen children shouldn't have to wait more than 6 years to bring in one child accidently born overseas who has downs syndrome and would benefit from early medical intervention here. This set of parents had to leave this child with his grandparents in a country where there is no special needs schools and inadequate medical care, and spent years and much money trying to bring in their own child. He's been here about a year and he's now 9. And even compassion on the part of our represenatives couldn't get this child here.
I have more horror stories than I have time to list. We need open handed rules, not quotas.
We need more employees not less working to complete the backlog and we need to make sure that these employees are not racist, and do their job. Better paperwork control is needed also.
No file from a NY interview should be sent to California and then lost, mandating a second interview or a third interview years apart and asking for the same documentation requested and produced yers before. We need a better guest worker program and a real path to citizenship
and we need it now.
